Day 11 Exmouth to Salcombe

First stop of the day was Exmouth where I was able to see the crew recovering the lifeboat from an exercise they were doing. The weld on my stand also failed on one side in the morning so I had to wire it together again. I then popped into a huge bicycle shop to try and find some spare inner tubes, unfortunately I didn’t get anything particularly good other than some large patches that I could cut to size. I then went through some tiny single track roads on my way to Teignmouth lifeboat station. The volunteers there were very nice and all very interested in old bikes so I had a lovely chat with them all about the bike. I was then invited to the house of a member of the Sunbeam club who very kindly fed and watered me and showed me around his collection of bikes, including a 1935 Sunbeam model 9. He then very kindly showed me the way into Brixham for the Torbay station and then the way on to the Dartmouth lifeboat station. Dartmouth was looking very nice in the sunny weather and the ferry journey was lovely. I then had a nice ride along the coastal path to Marlborough, just north of Salcombe where I camped for the night.
